HAIR EXTENSIONS

Shear Balance offers & is certified in Sew-in weft extensions

These extensions are comprised of hand-tied & machine-tied hair.

Tape-in extensions are available for certain situations which would be discussed during a consultation.

THE HAIR

At Shear Balance the extension hair I use is 100% human hair. The hair is made up of high quality cuticle in tact  remy hair, meaning the strands are all laying the same way. This is a key factor in having hair that remains shiny and smooth, and prevents unnecessary tangling. Every set of extension hair will last between 6-10 months or 3-4 applications. To ensure this duration the extensions must be cared for properly by following the care guide listed below.

The Cost

The cost of the hair itself varies by individual depending on the desired outcome length, density, and color. A consultation will give you an accurate price quote. The cost of the hair is used as a down payment & is needed in order for me to place the order for your hair.

The Application

These extensions require no tape, glue, bonds, or adhesives making for a clean damaged free install and removal. Small beads are looped through your hair and secured, the extension hair is then sewn with thread through the hair looped in the bead.

The Maintenance

Every 8-10 weeks after install you will need to come in for maintenance. This appointment involves removal, shampoo, condition, blow dry, install, & style. Hair extensions will add time to your regular hair routine. They do require a bit more time for washing, drying, & styling as well as a little extra care.

The Care

You want to treat your extensions just as you would your normal hair with just a few extra steps.

  • Brush regularly, always morning & night, before & after washing, before & after putting your hair up.

  • Use professional products from the salon.

  • Avoid spray sunscreens- even if not sprayed directly on your hair the mist WILL get on the hair and alter the color - especially for lighter hair extensions. save brands include Bare Republic & Sun Bum

  • Use a leave in conditioner & heat protectant

  • Heat style 350 degrees max

  • Avoid high ponies, stick to low ponies, braids, or low buns

  • Dry shampoo is a great option to avoid washing  often

  • Blow dry roots of the hair after washing

  • Use detangler after washing & brush from the bottom up avoid rough brushing to prevent slipping & damage

  • Highly recommend coating the hair in conditioner & braiding before swimming in salt water or chlorine

  • Silk pillowcases are great for not only the extensions but your natural hair as well
